Future plans: Although I am a Psychology major I am currently also the Pre-Medical program at SDSU. It is my dream to pursue a career in the medical field and eventually become a physician. I do not yet know which field I would like to specialize in, but I have recently found that the fields of oncology, radiology and interventional cardiology have invoked in me a specific interest. I spent my third year at SDSU living and studying in the South of France. While there, I met a physician who was participating in Doctors Without Borders; his experiences inspired me to look for a place in the medical field that would allow me to pursue both my passions: medicine and traveling.
Interests and Passions: I love to socialize, give back to the community and travel! As I said above, I spent my third school year studying abroad in the south of France in a small town called Aix-en-Provence. I had the time of my life and learned so much more than the beautiful French language. It really was a time of transformation for me and it is in France that I had an epiphany/realization of my calling into medicine. From the summer up of 2007 until December of 2007, I volunteered in the Emergency Room of Alvarado hospital. Since January of 2008 I have been spending my Thursday nights in the ER of Sharp Memorial Hospital. I absolutely love this new experience and it has solidified my decision to want to be a doctor. My most recent addition to the chaos I call my life is a research position in a behavioral neurobiology lab. Specifically, we are studying the physiological and psychological effects of fetal alcohol syndrome on the brain, as well as the role choline in relation to FAS. This new opportunity allows me to work closely with many highly educated professionals from whom eagerly I learn on a daily basis and be a part of potentially life changing research.
