HSV-Tag is an epitope tag composed of a 11 residue peptide (QPELAPEDPED) derived from the HSV glycoprotein D. This antibody can be used to check HSV- tagged fusion proteins.

The recombinant protein over-expression systems with well-known epitope tags are powerful strategies in checking and purifying the interest proteins, which are expressed in certain vectors containing the particular tagged fragments. The small tags are used to be cloned along with the target proteins, and the antibodies against those fusion-tags are used to monitor fusion protein expression and purification.


SOURCE & REACTIVITY

anti-HSV Tag polyclonal antibodies are raised against a synthetic peptide corresponding to the QPELAPEDPED sequence. This epitope-affinity purified polyclonal antibody is specific for HSV Tag. The antibody specificity is typically evaluated by ELISA and Western Blot with either the synthetic HSV-peptide or HSV-tagged fusion protein.


Epitope tags are commonly used for labeling, detection and purification of recombinant proteins. Due to their small size, they are unlikely to affect the biochemical properties of the tagged fusion proteins. Monoclonal antibodies are developed to recognize HSV-tagged fusion protein in different expression systems.
