Presenting Research Posters at Scientific Conferences has become an integral part of the research process. It allows scientists the opportunity to review a myriad of the latest discoveries in their field. Because the poster is typically presented in an interactive setting, it allows both the presenter and interested researchers an opportunity to exchange ideas gain insight and direct feedback. For young researchers and graduate students, presenting a poster at a conference can serve as an ingression into a particular field of study. It also acts as a portal to share “breaking news” or promising insights within a particular science paradigm. Unfortunately, when the conference is over, these posters become inaccessible and are soon forgotten.
The OneSci Research Network is petitioning several of the largest and most progressive research societies to collaborate on a project that will encourage presenters to showcase their conference posters online at the OneSci Network. We hope that at least one of these societies will emerge as a leader amongst the rest, and in so doing, prove that allowing online access to conference posters is an invaluable practice that benefits the entire scientific community.
