Hmmm, so why did they choose Vesl-1S, other than it being required for late-phase LTP? Never heard of this protein before. What other proteins does it associate with, and how might it attract newly synthesized proteins (that consolidate LTP) to the synapse? I couldn't see any mention of Ca2+ entry dependence with my quick scan of the article. Wonder how that plays into it.
