The Center for Behavioral Neurobiology at San Diego State University is a research center focused on developing treatments for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.

By using a mixture of biological assays and cognitive-behavioral tasks, we are able to continually add to what is known about the mechanisms of alcohol damage. We then use this information to explore possible treatments aimed at mitigating ethanol's negative effects on behavioral and physiological development. For example, we are exploring the effectiveness of a nutrient, choline, to reduce alcohol related neurodevelopmental disorders. Students are integrated into all levels of research and gain experience with behavioral testing as well as biological assays.
