CS 550 Artificial Intelligence I
Paper Information
Read 3 articles on a topic
Write 6-8 page essay
- Two-thirds summarize articles
- One-third discuss and contextualize against current research and own ideas
We will discuss in class how to select your source material, which you MUST have approved by the instructor to receive a grade on your paper.

  • bibliography page (Not included in page count)
Approximate point breakdown
Quality and effort - 10%
Content - 40%
  1. paper responds to assignment
  2. focuses on central idea or thesis
  3. thesis supported by evidence (material chosen for review)
Organization - 25%
  1. paper has an introduction, development, and conclusion
  2. paragraphs coherent and focused on a single idea
  3. paragraphs relate to central thesis
  4. transitions between paragraphs support the reader in following the thesis
Mechanics - 15%
  1. sentence structure
  2. word usage
  3. punctuation
  4. spelling
Style - 10%
  1. sentences varied and not awkward
  2. language uninflated
  3. language appropriate for formal paper (no slang, contractions, etc.)
